Talks With Parents

So one day i got home late. My parents were pretty worried. I felt really bad because i kept them waiting for so long. Apparently my mom went driving around town looking for me and my dad stayed at home waiting for me. So i was at the library until 5:45 that day and i could not call my parents because i have no phone (My phone got taken because i went over my texting bill by $100). I usually stay after school for tutoring on tuesdays, wednesdays, and thursdays. That day i went to the main library and studied with my friend. My parents did not know where i was of course and were pretty mad when i got home.

When i arrived home at 6:30 or so, my mom was just leaving to go get my brother from karate and my dad was still home. My dad was pretty mad. He yelled at me for what seemed like 30 minutes. I do not blame him though he was just worried where i was.

After he finished, i went upstairs and started doing homework. Then my mom came home and we all ate dinner. After i was finished i went back upstairs to do more homework. An hour after i went upstairs, my dad called me down so my mom, my dad, and i could talk.

I am really glad i had the talk with my parents. My dad explained a lot to me. He cleared some things up but also left me with some questions. That day was for sure a learning experience as he put it, and i do not think i will forget that talk for as long as i live. I'm glad i have parents that i can trust with anything, and sit down and talk with whenever i need to.

My Dog (Buddy)

This week i am going to write about my dog buddy. Buddy is my families six year old Akita. We have had him since he was a puppy. Buddy started out the size of a football when we first got him. Now he is the size of a small bear (according to France). I remember the first night when buddy got home it was about 11:00PM and i was in bed. I heard the garage open and i knew my dad had finally gotten home from wherever he picked up buddy. I remember running downstairs and looking into the tiny crate and saying, "Why is he so small?" Little did i know, Buddy was going to become huge.

I remember the next morning Buddy was terrified of everyone. He would not come out of his crate and was always shaking. After a while he eventually grew to like us. When i was little i always wanted a dog that would fetch, so the first thing i did when buddy was not scared anymore was teach him how to fetch. So i taught him. It did not really work out though, because still up to this day buddy will go get the ball bring it back and then run away when i try to get it from him.

Now buddy is older. He always wants to go for a run and what not, he is still pretty energetic, and he is huge. In his years he has gotten into a lot of trouble. Gotten into a fight, killed some small animals (not a pretty sight), and knocked down an old man on a bike with a dog (France, Andrew, Steven, Alvin, Sandy). He is getting older but he still is the playful little puppy we have had since that first day we got him.

My Thanksgiving break

This thanksgiving break i went to Lake Tahoe. I went from wednesday the 25th through Saturday the 28th. Every year my family and i go up to Lake Tahoe for thanksgiving. It has been a tradition for years. Usually we stay in our cabin. I call it our cabin because to me it seems like we are the only people that ever go there. The cabin actually belongs to a family friend. We usually go up there every year with our dog Buddy. This year we didn't go to the cabin because it was being used by someone else. Instead we went to a hotel so we couldn't bring Buddy.

The hotel was very nice and cosy. We got a room that was too small and did not have a kitchen so we couldn't cook the turkey. So the next day we called the front desk and scheduled a new room to move into so we could cook our food. That day we moved and just chilled the rest of the day in the hotel. The night we moved we had our thanksgiving dinner. It was really good. We had turkey (of course), mashed potatoes, bread, and a bunch of other good stuff. It was a good dinner. After dinner everyone just chilled and then finally went to bed. The next morning we didn't really do anything. We just stayed home and watched movies. We ate dinner and got ready for the next day ahead.

The next day we left Tahoe and went back home. We drove for what seemed like forever. We stopped along the way at In and Out for some food (really good) and then kept driving. We drove for four hours and then finally we got to the bay area. We went to pick up Buddy then went home. That was my thanksgiving. We are going back up to Lake Tahoe for new years too.

Social Groups

So i have nothing to write about this week. So many problems are going on right now in our group. Pretty much our group is falling apart. We all hang out during frisbee but we have all become separate mini groups. We use to be one big group but now we have branched off. Its sad :(. Because we are all friends and all still but we just don't hang out as much anymore.

Groups in high school are pretty much just the people who you choose to hang out with. There are kids who just are somehow nominated as cool(and you can tell because they walk around thinking they are the coolest person ever) and there are other groups outside of that. So pretty much everyone falls under their specific groups and has their friends within that group. There are people that will fall into more than one group because they hang with a certain group but they eat lunch with another or something like that.

So as i was saying our group is falling apart. Our group of like 15 has split into "The 4", and about 3 other groups that have not been named. So all the groups are breaking apart and stuff has started to happen and no one knows what to do anymore. Don't get me wrong we are all still friends, but everyone just isn't as close as we used to. As long as we are all still friends its ok with me though.

Ultimate

This week i am going to write about ultimate. Every friday after school me and my friends go to Lincoln middle school to play ultimate. We usually play from the time we get there until dark. Usually the people that show up are france, alvin, steven, raymond, Jon, Shuan, Pranav, Angelina, Max, Brendon, Alison, Sandy, Ron, Danny, and Ethan. We usually just get a game of frisbee going and play until we get tired. Other times we play soccer for a while or another sport before everyone arrives at the field. Yesterday, November 6th we played football with some people before frisbee started. They came over to lincoln with a football and decided to play. So Ron, Jon, Danny, Max, and I decided to challenge them. Of course we won and they left in shame. So then we played frisbee.

Frisbee was great. It was really slippery though and everyone was getting all muddy. We played for a couple hours running up and down the field. Score after score until finally someone got hit in the neck and went down. I was scared because he is one of my best friends and i didn't want him to be seriously injured. He was lying on the ground for a good five minutes until he got up. Finally he got up and got some water and Jon took him home.

After Jon left everyone started getting ready to go because he had brought the Frisbee's. We all washed the mud off of our feet and started calling our parents. It was dark by this time and we were all exhausted. My dad came and we took Steven and Andrew home. After dropping them off i went home exhausted got something to eat, watched some TV, and went to sleep ready for today.

Ranting: pt 2

So far i have written mainly about sports. That was my main goal in the beginning. I have been writing about baseball and also other things such as how my weekend was going or about a good movie i have watched. I started out only wanting to write about baseball and now it has turned into writing about other things. I think i liked my other idea of "Trail Mix." That idea was my third option which i liked the best because i do not have to stick to a certain topic when i am writing.

I have been using this idea because i would rather not stick to writing about just baseball but i also have the freedom to write about baseball three weeks in a row if i want to. This option worked for me last quarter and i think i will stick with it for the next one.

Halloween (Day and Night)

This week i am going to blog about Halloween. Halloween was alright this year. It started out with my brothers halloween party at our house. He had a bunch of his friends over and i invited some of mine. We also invited some of our relatives (My brother, sister, and two nieces). We all just hung out, jumped on the jumper, and rode bikes. At the party it was Alvin, Steven, France, Andrew, James, Sandy, Darren, and Wilson. We pretty much just jumped on the jumper and tried to do cool tricks. Also at the party my dad barbecued. We all had at least one hot dog. After eating and chillin' on the jumper we all went to ride bikes. We all rode around by my house racing and what not, then finally after about an hour of riding we went back to the Jumper. We jumped for a while and then the party ended.

After the party we all helped clean up and then everyone left. After everyone left i went inside with my mom, dad, sister, two brothers, and my nieces. We all hung out inside and cleaned up. After cleaning up we went back outside to play on the jumper one last time before the people came to pick it up. When the people came to pick it up my sister, her nieces, and my older brother left.

Once they left it was time to get ready to go trick or treating. My mom said earlier i could go hang out with my friends but then changed her mind. She said only my brother could go to trick or treat and i had to stay home and pass out candy. So i stayed home all night to pass out candy to the little trick or treaters.

When my mom and brother got home they had a lot of candy. My brother gave me a quarter of his share and it was good (I ate it all). We ended the day by eating some candy and then got ready for bed. Although i did not get to go out with my friends it was a good halloween.

Friday 10.23.09 (Class Color Day)

Class color day was so much fun. Everyone was walking around in their class colors. I had on a bunch of orange. I was in the second assembly which was pretty loud. I would have to say that the Juniors were the loudest, then the Sophomores, then Seniors, and then freshman. I expected the Seniors to be the loudest because they were graduating this year but they turned out to be one of the softer groups. I completely understand why the freshman were the softest though. Just like us last year they did not know what was going on since this was their first year of high school. After the assembly was lunch.

After school i went with all my friends to Ultimate Frisbee at lincoln. Before frisbee we stopped at the Encinal Market to get some food. We ended up buying to orders of fries and some drinks. I could hear the people at the register talking about how we were dressed up in all orange, but they did not know it was class color day. I think they eventually figured out after reading one of our sophomore shirts.

After we ate our food we left and walked the rest of the way to lincoln. Ultimate Frisbee was pretty fun. We played ultimate for a while and then we stopped because some people had to leave. After we ended our game of frisbee we just ended up chilling at lincoln for a couple hours. We were all just sitting around or riding bikes.

When we were riding bikes James bike broke. I tried to fix it but his bike was really messed up. The chain fell off and his mom added something onto the bike making it impossible for him to change gears. So he had to walk his bike home and then come back. We stayed at frisbee from after school until dark. It was a pretty good day.

Baseball Tournament (Cancelled)

So last time i blogged about my baseball tournament(The Fall Baseball Classic) in orange county. I was really excited to play in Southern California. Now my tournament which was scheduled for next weekend October 30th - November 1st) has been canceled. I was upset to find out that my baseball tournament was canceled because i have been training hard to get a starting spot on the team.

This sunday i have practice with my team and we will figure out if we are going to a tournament at all this fall. On the team website it said that if we do go to a tournament it will be the Winter Christmas tournament.

The winter tournament will be held in Orange County just like the last one it will just be a different date. They said the tournament will not be held on christmas but during the week before christmas. I am excited to find out at practice sunday to see if we will be going to any tournaments this year. If we do not go to any tournaments this year i will have to just play hard at practices and scrimmages to give myself a better chance on making the summer team.

The summer team is a team that will be a lot more competitive because we have a lot more time and we can enter more tournaments. Last year the team went to the World Series in New Mexico. So if i can make the summer team i will have a good chance at being either looked at by the college scouts or go into good tournaments. Sunday is my practice and i am hoping we are going to a tournament. The end of this week should be pretty fun, (class color day) and so should the weekend (Shaun's Birthday Party and baseball practice).

Baseball Tournament (I finally got it to post)

On October 30th through November 1st i am going to Orange County for a baseball tournament. My team, the Danville Hoots, are going to play in the 2009 Fall Baseball Classic. We have been practicing every sunday for the past five sundays or so. We are going to fly out to orange county on the 30th of October. We do not have school that day so my family and i might leave early that morning and fly there so we will have time to see the sights. The team is going to stay in a Whyndham hotel for the tournament.

Our next practice is sunday and we are scrimmaging against EJ sports baseball club. I have never heard of them but i hope they will be good competition. Tomorrow i will not have much time to go to the batting cages or practice or anything because i will have the PSAT. It starts at nine o' clock in the morning so i hope it will not take up my whole day. After the PSAT i will get some swings in so i will be ready for the scrimmage game on sunday.

Im playing on this team though because i don't expect to get much playing time on AHS. This team i have so far gotten playing time and also if i make their summer team then i will have a good chance at a scholarship when applying to colleges. More than half of the kids on the Hoots have gotten scholarships to very good colleges. I would like to go to a Rank A college myself that is also another reason i am playing on this team. So hopefully the team does well during the baseball tournament, and good luck to the black team (the 19 and under team) because they have a tournament next friday in orange county.

Baseball (and my D in english)

I am writing about baseball right now because my mom is kicking me off of my baseball team i am on right now (The Danville Hoots) because i had a D in english. Baseball is my life and i do not want to lose it. Last year I "played" for Alameda I put quotes around played because i never played. I was a Red Shirt.

A Red Shirt is a high-school or college athlete kept out of competition for one year to develop skills and (not in my case) extend eligibility. As i was saying i was Red Shirted last year. It was horrible. Going to practice almost everyday just to practice nothing to look forward to. I was allowed to go to the game but i would not get any playing time so there was no point. I ended up practicing for the whole year hoping to get a little bit of playing time but that never happened. The season ended and i started playing Babe Ruth.

I honestly think babe ruth is a joke. I thought it was a pointless season but i got some practice in during the games. I also played in a summer league where i played the whole time in all the games. That was because it was a wreck league and i was one of the best on the team.

Then comes this fall. I am playing for a team called the Danville Hoots. We are a traveling team and we are going to Southern California for a couple tournaments this fall. I was so excited to play in these tournaments. I was lifting weights, doing sprints, and all other types of conditioning to get in shape for this team.

The tournaments are coming up and today my mom calls me and tells me, "You can not play for the Hoots anymore because you have a D in english." I was of course upset to hear this considering i was playing on a team better than Alameda High's. I was also devastated to learn i had a D in english. Now i am typing this and all i can do is hope that my mom will listen to me and let me play on the baseball team. If she does i will be so happy and definitely pull my grades up to par.

Classwork 10.06.09

(1.) […] In almost every audience I address, there is someone who will suggest that racism is a thing of the past. There is always someone who hasn’t noticed the stereotypical images of people of color in the media, who hasn’t observed the housing discrimination in their community, who hasn’t read the newspaper articles about racial bias in lending practices[1] among well-known banks, who isn’t aware of the racial tracking[2] pattern at the local school, who hasn’t seen the reports of rising incidents of racially motivated hate crimes in America—in short, someone who hasn’t been paying attention to issues of race. But if you are paying attention, the legacy of racism is not hard to see, and we are all affected by it.-

I annotated this paragraph saying that the media is a big contributor to racism. This is a person experience but when i have read a newspaper or heard a police report it will say a Black Male. It also if it is a white male they would say it is just a Male... I have just noticed that on a couple occasions. I also read the part about school i realized that some racism goes on at our school. But most of it is friendly. I also don't think there are very many hate crimes at school but more outside of school. I think the bay area is a very diverse place though.

My Friday (9.18.09)

On Friday I went to the A's game with Ricky, Jared, and Richard. We all met at my house and drove to the game. Before the game we went to Burger King to get some food that was cheap. We bought ourselves burgers, put them in the backpack, and went to the game.

At the game we went to buy tickets. My dad said that we should buy the cheapest tickets and just move seats once we got inside. When we were in line waiting to buy tickets a woman asked if anybody wanted 3 free tickets. My dad said he would and we took them. He gave the tickets to Jared, Ricky, and Richard. My dad then bought the two nearest tickets (one for me one for him) to where their tickets were.

Once in the game we reached the area where our seats were and just sat down in a random place. We then stayed there for about an inning or two then proceeded to move down to a lower deck. We reached the lower deck and found some great seats rite next to the right field wall. We then sat there for about 10 minutes until a ball was hit deep about to go over the wall. We then stood up and watched as the ball was flying. The ball reached the fence (the tension all around the stadium) in the air and was over the fence when a player from the other team jumped up, grabbed the ball, and brought it back into the yard. We all started booing (not aware we booing loudly) and then were kicked out because the lady asked us where our tickets were and they were not for that section.

After we were kicked out we moved on to a different section of the stadium. We then sat there for another 3 to 4 innings then decided to walk around the stadium. We walked around until we found the section where we could stand in line to go onto the field for the fireworks. We then stood in line and waited for the game to end. The game then ended and we were allowed to go onto the field to start the fireworks.

We all sat in the designated sitting area for about 20 minutes waiting for the fireworks to start. The fireworks then started (the first one scaring everyone) and we watched. After the fireworks ended we left the stadium and went to the car.

While we were driving we all decided to go to In and Out Burger. We went through the drive-thru and asked the lady why there was such a long line. She said it was because Hannah Montana had ordered 150 double doubles and 100 fries. We were all siked because we thought we would see hannah montana. It turned out when we were in the drive-thru we saw her. She was taking pictures with two other friends. We said hi and she waved back and we drove on our way home. That was my friday

Pineapple Express

I just recently saw the movie Pineapple Express and I feel that I should write about it because it was a really good movie and I have enough to write about. So Pineapple Express is about two guys who smoke weed that get themselves into trouble. It starts with Dale Denton who is a person that works for the court. He goes around and tells people that they have been "served". He ends up driving to the head drug dealers house not knowing that he is the head dealer.

He ends up driving to the house while smoking some rare weed called Pineapple Express. When he pulls up to the house he looks up into the upper window and witnesses a murder (The drug dealer is killing a rival). He then throws the weed out of the car and speeds away. The Head guy Ted Jones then runs outside of his house with a female police officer (who is on his side), and watches the car speed away. He then finds the Pineapple Express on the ground and realizes that it is Pineapple Express (Hence the movie title). He then goes to look for the only person he had sold the Pineapple Express to, Red. Ted sends two of his men to to find Red. Red is at his house and the men are sent interigate him and try to figure out who witnessed the murder.

The men then figure out that the man who Red sells his weed to is Saul Silver. Saul Silver is Dale's drug dealer. The men end up going to find Saul. They find Saul and figure out that he is selling to Dale. The men then go back to their "warehouse of weed" to tell the boss the news. Immediatley after the men leave Saul's house Dale arrives. Dale tells saul that he witnessed the murder and Saul tells him that he knows who is looking for him. Saul then tells Dale that Ted Jones is looking for him and that he will be killed if he is found. To Be Continued.

Ranting

The topic I want to rant a bout is sports. I would like to write about baseball because it is a topic close to me. I want to write about baseball because I have been playing since i was little and it has changed me as a person. What I mean by it has changed me is that if I had not played baseball then my life would be more different than it is now. My other topic for ranting is music. I am a musician so I can relate to music. I also like to listen to and play music. I don't know i would not be able to i can find enough to write about music. My third option was what France had which was a"Trail Mix." It was a mix of many different topics like sports one time and then music the next. This wat I could have a variety of topics and write about what ever I want to write about at that time. This option I will probably choose if I am allowed to.
